Associate External Relations/PI Officer (NOB)

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the UNHCR Representative, the Associate External Relations/PI Officer is responsible in following up on external relations issues: Organizing briefings, conferences and meetings with Donors. Government counterparts and related partners: Collecting and drafting information, and dissemination of updates on the refugee situation and UNHCR programmes in Indonesia. Developing a working relationship with the media and news agencies, Update and improve content of the local website: Providing analysis and background information for decision making on matters relevant for the implementation of the Office’s mandate in Indonesia; Managing and distributing of UNHCR written publications and materials to various institutions and individuals to respond to public interest on refugee issues: Conducting activities (advertisements, exhibitions, training, seminars, etc,) to create greater public awareness of UNHCR objectives and activities: Performing other related duties that may be required.
QUALIFICATIONSIREQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Complete University Degree in Journalism. Communications, Political Social Science or International Relations, with minimum of 4 years previous job experience in same functional area. Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment is an added asset.
LANGUAGE: Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English (written and oral) essential knowledge of other languages is an asset.
DESIRABLE SKILLS: Excellent writing and communication skills; journalism background or equivalent good knowledge UNHCR’s operations.
OTHERS: computer and internet literacy with proficiency in using other office equipment (tax, telephone, typewriter, photocopy. etc.)
