The role
Reporting to the Team Leader – Mining the Senior Mining Engineer will act as a positive role model and will lead by example through the contribution to and the promotion of a safe, satisfying and challenging work environment. Through focus on technical excellence, the role will contribute positively to our reputation as a coal capable hub in APAC and the planned profitability for the region.

This position delivers technical services and supervision in relation to mine design and engineering activities for designated project outcomes, including technical integrity and internal quality control.

Other key responsibilities include; reverse estimation and reporting, due diligence studies, scoping/pre-feasibility and feasibility studies and technical audits.

The incumbent will work as part of a team delivering mine design solutions and other mine infrastructure projects on time and on budget, while meeting Coffey’s exacting quality standards.

The person
To ensure your success in this critical role, you will have as a minimum a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining).

You must have considerable experience participating in declaring and signing off of ore reserves, you will be highly proficient in mine design, planning and scheduling. Significant practical background in at least some of the following is required:

  • Open pit or underground coal (including operations and technical services)
  • Technical report writing
  • Ore Reserve estimation and reporting

Familiarity with the various international reporting standards (JORC Code, NI43-101, SAMREC etc) would be advantageous. Key to your selection and success will be your advanced skills in written and spoken English.
